When deciding on a photographic project I try and keep it simple and narrow it down to something I know about.
Solihull is my home town and what better way to celebrate my favourite town than to photograph it and illustrate it's beauty for all to see how wonderful it is.
Solihull is a small town centre on the outskirts of Birmingham, and to get the best view you have to go high.
Nestled in an abundance of trees and parks Solihull is a lovely place to live and has a lot ot offer its residence. I wasn't going to hire a cherry picker or buy a drone to photograph the town and I didn't want to be on the ground and tackle a lot of every day interference.
There is a shopping centre called Touchwood in the centre of town and I was selling my prints from a shop within the shopping centre.
I approached the management and put my idea forward, I had to fulfil my health and safety doc outlining what my objectives were and how I was going todo it all safely. The management agreed I could do it and a day was set.
Within the parameters of the roof of touchwood I had a birds eye view of the town centre, access to the windows peering down into the shopping centre and the shoppers below.
I gave the management copies of the finished prints and sold them on my street and in the boutique.
That is one of my favourite projects and the prints still do well when I do the artisan market in the town centre.
