Calling all Creators!!

Calling all creators!

That's Designers, Artists, crafters, Cooks, Weavers, Upholsterers, Knitters, Felters, Sculptors and everyone else who creates something from nothing.

We are a unique collection of innovators and think quite differently to most other people, the things we take for granted in the way we can think of something and then envisage it, see it vividly in our minds and then make it a reality is nothing short of brilliant.

We often doubt ourselves, thinking and assuming someone else could do it better. We forget how extremely unlikely it is that someone else could even hope to have thought of what you have come up with.

Strategise your plans
Ideate

Other people cannot understand how when talking to people your mind is running ahead at a million miles an hour thinking of how you could solve their problem and come up with various alternatives to the problem during that conversation. If you're anything like me you thrive on the challenge of that, when people come to me with a design issue on a product I love brainstorming and coming up with ways to over come the issue.

Unique practical design
Innovative design

Rethinking an existing design or product can sometimes harder than inventing something completely new because you know how much work went into that concept and appreciate that the creator would have redesigned it several times before taking it to market or pitching it. But problems with the design might arise over time and peoples lifestyles change as new easy to use products come onto the market.

Most products will need a rethink, revamp or overhaul after some time to accommodate new technologies, new and better materials, changes in the economy and adapting it for disabilities. All of those elements should be taken into consideration when designing something anything as development is always something that will happen.

Brainstorm your ideas and create a mind map
Ideate

Ideas are always coming our way, when I was at Art College one of the best pieces of advice from my tutor was to keep a small sketch pad and pencil by the side of the bed as we always forget our brilliant ideas by the morning.

As we dose off and our minds are still quite active we can come up with amazing ideas and think, I'll remember that in the morning... of course we never do.

Keeping a notepad or sketch book in your bag is always a good idea too, jotting things down whilst out and about, while on a coffee break or just when your mind wanders off and you have a lightbulb moment. Being able to record the idea and make notes is invaluable.

I hope my ramblings resonate with you.
